0.30 is 300 thou or 1/3" which can't be right.

I assume that the 0.30 is in mm, so the float you have in thou is around 12 thou (0.012").

Now, this would have been easy to fix when minispares sold +3 thou thrusts, sadly they don't anymore.

Are you measureing the float with new thrusts, or using old ones?

A new set of standards might help, I somehow had a set of +10s in my old engine, not sure where they came from though.

i am measuring the endfloat with the old one in and yes just looked at feeler guage and it is 0.012 thou, doh, so if i got +6 this would bring the endfloat to 0.006 thou or am i getting it wrong

You could either get of plus +6s of +3s for both sides.

However, I found that my old thrusts were 89 thou thick and new ones were 93 thou thick.

So if your thrusts were as worn as mine a pack of 4 standard thrusts could get the float right.

self designated dumbass here i am meant to be talking about the
PRIMARY GEAR THRUST WASHER
so what would be the deal with this then as on minispares they give other thrust washers as 0.112-0.114 so what one would i need do you think this is why i am so confused i cant even think straight at the mo

if you've got 12 thou endfloat at the minute then take out the washer, measure it and buy a washer from minispares that is 6-8 thou thicker than the one you have in now.

Hi,
Ouch those thrust washers are expensive! Hope I don't have to buy one *surprised*

Have you tried using other retainers?

I've found in the past that these vary in thickness and can reduce the float enough.

This won't help with the primary gear, only the idler.

Yep, always worth trying a brand new retainer/c clip before splashing out on diff sized thrust washers, as they are £24/ea. (well, were when I bought my last one)

I've got loads of retainers and C-clips available, and normally get the endfloat right with a lot of messing about with these...
