Depress the locking plunger..............

I can't get it to go in,seams to be a lump in one of the splines too

Picture 6.2a page 87 in haynes 718

Fixed you dont push anything in the 1mm hole as haynes would have you think,this is just to turn it.You actually push a plunger and spring which is a bit hard to see inbetween 2 splines into the shaft then turn it
