just a quicky, wondering what you lot are getting MPG wise? i ran out of petrol again tonight (bloody fuel sender's lieing to me!) but it sort of cought me off guard again because i'd literaly just put a gallon in and managed 10 - 12 miles on it!? not over the top foot hard to the floor miles either! i know a gallon wont get me far but i thought there was more in the tank to begin with so a gallon was supposed to top it up *oh well*
i know its running rich, and the timing aint right yet (megajolt) but christ i would be better off with a ford gt at this rate!

its 1380, t3 and was running about 10psi untill gave up and turned it down to 4 in a vain attampt to make it the last 1/4 mile home! was quite pleased with myself for makeing it till i realised i left the bastard jerry can back in the workshop where i just came from! bah.
anyway just intrested to know what you lot are getting on the 14 - 16psi boost, when its running well?

roll on the trip to the rollers...

lol thats about what i thought, i rememebr it being jucy but im pretty sure i got round the 25 mark on a run before the last rebuild, the rebuild was just a good ported head chambered out rather nicely by benross, the intercooler, and the megajolt. the fueling hasnt been touched, and the boost pressure is about the same, so the timing must be waaaay off, guess i'l l have to live with it till i scrape togeather enough dosh to visit a good RR!
thanks a lot,
steve

yes the way to go with the timing with the MJ

remember you are running less compression now! no good for fueling MPG issues
GOOD for more an fun but not in the back pocket iam afraid

so the economy will drop also

you should pull thing back a shade with a RR setup

keep us in formed

will do! look forward to seeing what it makes tbh, the worked head has made hell of a difference, for the same boost it pulls a lot harder. tbh it's probibly quite fast enough on the current boost pressure but theres something inside that eggs me on, it was built to run 14 - 15psi and ive got to say im intrested to know how quick it will be.
actualy can anyone recomend a good RR? ive been recomended mbe in lincoln and bogg bros, never used either so any more views would be apreciated.

just worked out my MPG for when i went down to newquay at the weekend. its a bit of a guesstimate as i have no speedo. dont know if my working outs right though if anyone can be arsed to check it.

i used roughly £30 of fuel to do around 260 miles, fuel cost me £1.05 a litre for super from the services. i work that out to 28.5 litres, which is 6.3 gallons. then i'm guessing i just divide the 260 miles by the 6.3 gallons which works out to 41.2mpg?

if thats right then its fucking excellent in my book. i was driving between 3500 and 4500 all the way, but trying to keep the boost gauge below -15 as much as possible, i'd got the bleed valve closed anyway so max boost was 5psi.

Mike barratt is obviously the nearest i can think of. if you go there let me know and i'll try pop up. i'm going to dave walker though since he's Mr Emerald!

Mike has done a lot of ECU setups but not sure how familiar he is with the MJ.

john flan was doing 1 litre of fuel at cadwell per lap 2.2 miles on "FULL chat" at 7500 RPM

so there you go, depends how big your lead foot is...... & the engine spec

How much differance does the part throttle lean off pipe make to the mpg.

Mines blanked off 20-25 mpg

lol mbe is the front runner at the moment, will be a couple of weeks before i can think about taking it there iain, at the curent rate the cost of getting it there will outway the cost of tuning the bloody thing! im hoping i might even have use of that trailer again, and my mates discumery.
will give him a ring anyway and see what he says about the megajolt. i cant see it being too much of a problem but stranger things have happened!

Hi,
There's only one way to find out! Please give it a go , 'cause I'd like to know! *wink*
I would think the lean off pipe should improve cruising MPG as thats what it's designed to do. *wink*
When on light load you want the mixture so weak that it's only just above the lean misfire point.
High power ignition systems, MJ etc. will help here as you need the best spark to light the lean mixture.
Cam (more overlap) and compression ratio (lowered for more boost potential) will be the 2 things that screw your MPG, this is assuming it's all been setup correctly. *wink*
Of course, the lean off pipe will only work when you're running under vacuum, NOT BOOST!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
