i bought an old '70 beetle once which suposedly had 10 months ticket on it, but upon a closer inspection there was just no way it could ever have passed, the foot wells were bits of alley riveted down, there was rust in every place you didnt realy want it. and it had about 3 petrol leaks, it was dirt cheap like so i wasnt bothered and i saw the problems before buying. but i was a bit taken back about how it could have the mot, turns out the bloke my neighbor bought it off had nicked some mot certificates and was writing his own!!, think the coppers cought up with him in the end thankfully

Hmmmm at least its obviously rusty in the photos and not hidden underneath or something then. My mum bought a green mini back in the 1990s from a garage, the floorpan was held on by silicone and carpet hahaha when we pulled the carpet up the floor crumbled away!

If you buy a car that has a current MOT and there are clear signs that it should not have passed at the time of test, you can report it and the testing station can be investigated.

It doesnt help you or the car but prevents this sort of thing happening in the future. Like you got your mate at the local garage to give it a pass when it is not because he's a mate.

Theres no way my mini should have passed an mot when you could get your fingers inside the sill only three months after the MOT. The previous owner had it MOT'd by one of his collegues at work ( he worked for the ambulance force) but i do believe they have a different test as do public vehicles?? dunno

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

the sill would pass as i don't think its within 30cm of a steering suspension braking or seat belt anchorage point. The a panel is also not within 30cm of anything either.

so that's a pass.

weather you would want to drive it is a different matter.
