Hi There, I'm planning to fit a oil filter before the pump on my new engine. I'm doing this for two reasons, to give me more space up front, and as I'm running a dog box this year there will be more bits of shit flying around.

I might have a picture of a beautiful way to do this as a matter of fact. Courtesy of Steven Gault. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

I am sure there are other ways, but for me the points used are the most obvious ones to choose. The gearbox side is pretty easy to do, the hard work is already done for you! It is just the block which is a bit more tricky but by no means impossible.

there is a block in the workshop which has been done the way tom describes, although this is an a series block, I have a scrap A+ block, I'll put it on the milling machine later tonight and have a play!

I thought about one of those filters that Minispares sells, but my biggest concern is that due to the size and nature of the filter (it has a magnet) it will need cleaning / replacing regularly, not an issue for all out track cars where the engine is out on a regular basis, but could be a real pain on road cars especially daily drivers. Well, I'm not bothering with a Pre-pump filter. Once again, the magnets in my sump will be going back in.

I cant picture it atm, but i thought the turbo oil feed which comes from where you can take a pressure gauge feed from taps into the main gallery running the length of the engine? -which is AFTER the filter..? |

yes you are right, it is after the filter, although I use to think it was not On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:
