got myself a temp gauge in my IC piping after the IC working in a fashion now, just wondered what sort of temps are good?

on the motorway on the way to newquay at night i was seeing around 11 degrees C, round town its usually around 28 degrees. The worst bit is starting it back up after a run and seeing how bad the heat soak is, highest i've seen so far is 50 degrees.

Be interesting to see what the temp going in to the cooler is. but anything below 30 deg is good

Anything over 45 degrees C and you need to start retarding the timing.

Of course the other effect is the one of air density and your Air/Fuel ratio.

Hi,
I don't know if the MJ has this option, but on mine I can retard the timing in relation to the air (or engine) temp.
It may well be worth looking into this and setting it up, cheap way to reduce the possiblity of engine damage *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)
