I never use the botton steadies. They are too close to the pivot point of the engine (where it is mounted) to be of much use IMO.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

But if using an internally mounted gear change i reckon they are good to reduce the amount of slop (if using rose jointed ones).

Hi,
I'd run it, and put another one the other side too! You can't have too many things holding the engine in.
The more you use the less load there is on each one. You can bet Rover wouldn't have put it on if it didn't need it!
As you boot it down the road the engine is pulling against the bulkhead. The gearbox is always trying to rotate around the driveshaft!
If the top of the engine can't move forward, the force is now trying to pull it out of the bottom mounts, this is where your bottom stabilsers come in!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I have two on the bottom, but i dont have the brackets that bolt to the gerabox. If i want the brackets i have to buy the whole thing from minisport for a silly price, and ive run out of funds now so got to use what i have lol

Hi,
Try this for size, should be more in your price range *wink*

You could then use the steady bar you've got with this bracket
on the other side. Job done £22!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
