I have recently come across a Pre 1985 turbo engine, and have notice a few differences:

Carb plate is a 2 piece
Plenum is black not grey
Dizzy has clip on cap and seperate amp. (Apparently has better advance curve than post 85 )
Fuel regulator looks different
Speedo has electronic boost gauge on rev counter.

Are there any other differences that are worth noting ?

I did a search and didn't find any topics

Cheers Brocky

I am also breaking a turbo engine at the moment which is complete apart from the crank which went in a race engine. Will have to get it on the for sale

The Mk1 dizzys are different yes, and allow the use of a side-entry dizzy cap.
However the "different advance curve" bit is a long running myth, and is not true.

I should think the square drive on the gearbox for the speedo cable is the same as a mini on early ones,as later metros have valeo instruments which use a smaller square drive cable.

Metro turbo weekend driver,Mini turbo in the making again!
