as i am planning to get one out of scrapyard.

like what to look for and what is to avoid.

Hi,
If you find a good seconhand one, it'll be a first!
Check for excessive play in the bearings, and if very oily inside.
In extreme cases the bearings will be that worn the tubines rub on the housings.
Also R5 turbos are pretty rare in scrapyards!

how much does t2 go for nowaday?

jsut get one thats intact, isnt to cracked around the wastegate and has as little play in the shaft as possibel. and buya recon kit off e-bay. second hand turbo's are a huge gamble.

my turbine was rubbing on the housing!!!

I got mine from a R5 enthusiast, best is just to find one locally, ask arround about R5's etc see who has one.

I paid a tenner for it, it needed everything changing in a refurb, which cost in total with 2 year guarentee £200 from ITS Turbos in Dridlington, leeds. It seemed so much to spend on just one engine componant, but now ive got it back, ive got loads less worry about puting me engine in, and dont have to think that the turbo might be faulty. Well worth every penny.
