I've hit a sizeable problem with my efi project - in that I can't find a suitable throttle body in this land of V8 engines...

I need a compact unit - something with around a 40-45mm diameter disc (butterfly).
It must be metal, not plastic (for obvious reasons) and ideally have a 3-pin throttle pot attached.

Somthing i'm thinking specifically (and i might be wrong) is the unit fitted to the 1400 / 1600 EFI CVH motors?

So - anyone able to assist in sourcing something for me???
Pretty please!!!

I am thinking poss 205 GTI Dave. 4 bolt flange, alloy body. Not sure what the size is but I'll measure one for you.

Dave,

I'm probably following a similar line of thinking as you and am looking for something similar.

I bought a Fiesta RS Turbo (CVH?) throttle body off ebay last week but it turned out to have a 50mm bore tapering to around 48mm at the butterfly.

I bit big I think, but it only cost £4 inc postage!

I'll keep hunting and let you know.

Cheers guys.

This is the kinda thing we (all?) want.

OR

(shame the Rover one was plastic)

Nice simple design. No stepper-motors or in-built idle valves. And ideally - will have the conventional three-pin (injector socket-style) throttle-pot already on and set up.

Don't be bothering with something that uses the ancient BOSCH throttle Pot - or if you do - unscrew and leave the throttle pot behind and try to get a better proce (or replace it with a conventional pot off a different car)

Cheers Guys!

They're also more expensive than the much more suitable Jenvey units...

205 1.9 8v Throttle body. The 1.6 8v one is the same.

51mm butterfly size. It is a three bolt mounting, on a PCD by the looks of it.

This is the RS Turbo TB

50mm at the butterfly now I've measured it.

Is that the Bosch TPS to avoid?

The MG one will go for over my budget - and the stepper-motor one isn't ideal...

I think i've found a compromise unit from the USA actually...
It's a 2" butterfly, but has a compound leverage system that increases the sensitivity at small throttle openings, but winds it out after - similar to the HIF arm, but a little more effectivly...

So - cancel my request guys! But keep your eyes peeled next time you're at the breakers!

Hi,
Apparently the Ford Zetec one are the ones to go for... The 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 all have the same mounting flange, but with different butterfly sizes.
So once you've made your manifold to fit one, you can swap the different sizes to get the best result *wink*

Gavin :)

rovers are the same. 2 different sizes of ally body were fitted to teh "K" and the 2 litre body is a bolt on effort aswell (to a "K"). and bigger than both. only thing is some have the servo idle controller etc all built in.
imagine ford parts are easier to get in the states tho!

Bike throttle bodies off of a GSXR600 are about the size you want I think.

Worth having a gander in the TB section of msefi.com, if you haven't already.
