Hi there,

How different is a Non Turbo Metro distributor to a Turbo'd one?.....ive been having alot of problems with my engine, seems to missfire and eventually cut out on high boost at the top end.
I am 70 % sure that my dizzy is not the one matched to the engine...and when i brought my engine it came in pieces in a box so anything is possible.
Are the dwell angles completely different?
I also have a real bad oil leak the for some reason comes out of the dizzy, doesnt seem to have any seals in it to replace...should there be?

Does anyone know where to buy a brand new Turbo Distributor?...can you still get them?

Thanks, Jeremy

Hi,
There will be a number on your distributor (5 digits I think) Using the internet, you should be able to find listings of distributor numbers and what they fit.
The advance curves are the difference, this will cause pinking and or detonation.
However, it's unlikely that it would cause a misfire, this is usually a faulty module or wiring, coil etc.
As for the oil leak, is there an O ring on the dizzy body where it fits into the engine? There's not usually enough oil pressure the cause a leak here, where exactly is the leak coming from?
As for a new one, highly unlikely, as it's about 15 - 20 years old. You maybe able to get it repaired locally though......
Here's another option ....
Cheers,
Gavin :)
