I still don't get why he disc has moved 3mm toward the hub,

obviously you have changed something but i can't see what.

if the nut bottoms out then ill have to make a spacer ,but i think it may be ok ,and just pull the cv through more ,,,time will tell when i assemble it . *happy*

So, you've taken some material from where i have marked in red?

will the splines not bottom out where the area marked in green has been removed or have you modded that also?

dang nab it !!!!!
the thicker mounting flange on the disc is a mm thicker than the old discs, so it just grazes the oil seal on the hub carrier !!!oh pooh ,just have to take another mm off the disc mouting face .no biggy .

hurrah!!!
all on and functioning now have a 20mm narrower track at the front than it was ,10mm in each side ,and a total of 13mm inset ,with the mini flange ,same total inset as a 19mm inset wheel using a metro flange .
feels v stable and almost power steeringy, will have to take it to a nice bumpy rd and do the 70mph overtaknig test with it but it seems a lot better ,may drop the castor back to 4.5 to lighten the steering now . *smiley*

yes about a gnats tadger in fact that was the setting on the lathe !!lol
nic good point , i have a total of

3mm off bearing face of drive flange

2mm off wheel face of drive flange ,

5mm off wheel itself

4mm off disc face that mounts to flange .

2mm off cone split washer so it dont hit the cv spline

3mm off spline inside face so cv dont bottom out

4mm hardened steel washer from astra to pack out hub nut so it dont bottom out on threads ,
edge of washer tapered to avoid contact with the hub before reaching proper torque on nut .

5mm packing washers under wheel nuts to avoid bottoming out.

phew dont these things mount up !!

Robert .. well done fella ..... I think you have just stollen Rob's (Bristish Open) crown on the "I'm not spending any money on that ... let me use your lathe" stakes!!!!

Most of us, myself included, would have just changed the wheels!!!!! LOL

By the way .. I'd say keep the castor up, I much prefer it as I feel it makes the car a little more stable.

I'll have to pop over and have a look at this machine ... gets more interesting by the day!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

No idea on weights, sorry. Lighter than most I have picked up but revolutions are always light for what they are.

well bit of an update here ,

after various nightmares on the diff front and the same prob being there when using the higher power ,
i decided to get a 4 pin diff and see if i could get it in there withuot taking the engine out ..
well the good news is yes you can and you can also get the pinion out with the engine in ,
so you can change diff ratio which im doing .

the bad news is ,
i was thinking i could sell my comp diff pin new everything single pin diff that was coming out ....

so i looked at the diff after getting it out and thought hmmm ,should that diff pin be rotating when i spin the gears

I DONT THINK SO !!!!!!!

yep .
the pin was welded to the planet gear ,and had eaten the roll pin !!

it was freely spinning ,and how far i was from a self dissasembling diff case i shudder to think ....P.H.E.W.!! here are some pictures
this pin a genuine competition pin ,,with all new gears and bushes etc,run on valvolene vr1 20/50 ,and has done about 3 k miles ..enjoy

*happy* happy to have got away with this so far , i feel this was the steering prob .

How about a 'file test' to see how hard this pin really is at the surface?

That looks like it was significantly softer than the pinions?
