well i painted me garage floor, finish the rest off tommorow, and cleaned it out ready for the mini coming home, i will have to push it around from me mums house. hopefully me bearing and gear will arrive, the postal strikes have bolloxed up me plans again. me lamps should arrive tommorow too (they said next working day, and i ordered em before 1500hrs) still got loads to do on the car, iam concerned about the first startup, do i run it on MJ or build it up with the dizzy first ? it shouldnt be too long, still have the following to do on the shell
# fit me new modded fuel tank
# fit fuel pump
# fit fuel regulator
# sort out all electrics wire up lights,
pumps etc etc.
# weld hanger for exhaust onto rear subby
# build engine !

things i need.
# Modded plenum (Nic jobby)
# 1:1 ratio sc drops
# 1:3 ratio rockers
# flywheel and clutch
# gearbox stabliser brackets x 2
# time to get the build finished.

pic of me gazzy

took a pic of me car to keep me inspired.

Hi,
I'd say throw a dizzy in to start, one less complication with a new build. You can also use the running engine to check the crank sensor signal ect.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Nic, shite camera phone = wrong colour psml.

Madj, iam going to put grilles behind the holes on the bonnet, same grille mesh as on the Mgzr's.

Steve, yes mate it could do with a paint job, but so many other things to do, i changed the reg on it and its been mint ! use it all the time, i have still yet to put the cut off valve in, but to be fair i have been using air rachets, die grinders, pray guns, and a thirsty windy gun (dunno propper name for em) i have faced the exhaust for the tank to the door, and it gets drained everytime i use it, so it should last my lifespan i hope.

Air ratchets save so much time.

No satifaction undoing wit em though like manual ratchets.

well me lights came so i thought i would pop em in, i had to push the car home last night which was a ball acher, all the tracking etc is not yet setup so the tyres were working against me (if you catch me drift) so pushing it was twatfull ! Iam despo to get her done now, but cant leave the kids to crack on with it :( my gear arrived from JKD they still make components for the Challenge Gearset folks ! but second gear cost me 80 quid !!!! after comparing a new one against the one i had, it is pretty clear how worn it was, will eventually get pics of it. I have asked Percy to measure / mic the bearing as he reckons there is nothing special about it other than JKD knowing its size and not telling people unless they buy one :( once he gets back to me with measurements i will post it up, may save those that use the set a few bob. ie about 20 quid cheaper than JKD

well popped the lamps in and took yet more photos of the front, you must be getting sick of it now !! i probably stood there for like 30 minutes just staring at it SAD ! so here are the pics, i still need the mgzr type grille mesh for the cooler holes any ideas other than ripoffspeed ?

short engine is built, i need drop gears, a flywheel n clutch, and a set of rockers to be completed. with the above mentioned items i could have it finished by next rest days (if me wife looks after the kids)

there is loads of bugs and niggles to tweak and fettle though the rear brake cylinders are not bleeding as they are goosed so that needs sorting too. the rockers i can bodge and use some old folded steel ones which i believe are 1:3 ratio, but the flywheel and drop gears must be purchased :(

well post crimbo and back to the mini. Steve, the pot joint arrived yesterday mate, cheers !

gearbox is to be picked up from Percy who hopefully did a fab job with it, just need to plonk me block on it and bolt it up, still saving up for a lightened flywheel and drops, and a fancy plenum. just seems endless the amount of work i have to do. will take some pics of the box etc and post em on, nothing you all have not seen before though.

hahaha thanks folks, not sure about when she will be done, iam aiming before Avon 08 (to be realistic) the problem i have is the car is on permanant export (from ireland) i have to get her MOT'd etc before they will give me the V5 for it which is always a worry in my mind, i have the export cert and some history including step by step photos of what i have done since i got her.
