Hi,
Any A series can take a turbo; Spi, Mpi, A+ and A.
It just depends on what you want from it.
The Compression Ratio is probably the most important thing to think about if your not rebuilding the engine.
If you are to rebuild it then you'll be able to change the pistons and/or mod the head to get the CR you need for your required power output.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Great thanks alot, so say a spi motor with 10:2:1 would be suitable for how much boost from a standard metro turbo? and how relaiable for everyday driver?

Hi,
I'm guessing it's a Cooper SPi at 10:1
Most people use a 9.4:1 which should take 10 psi, if well setup with an intercooler too.
I don't think anyone is running 10:1 on a turbo, except me.
I'm running fuel injection and mapped ignition with a knock sensor.
I don't know how much boost I can run as the car is still in a thousand pieces :(
Reliability shouldn't be an issue if setup properly from the start and well maintained afterwards.
Cheers,
Gavin :)
