Thinking of going for a rollcentre one, just wish they had the cross bar instead of just the diagonal!

Rob, would you say the upgrade to the "FIA Specification" cage over the "FIA National Specification" is needed / worth while if you have the cash if the car is intended for a road car?

Right.

Reasons why you shouldn’t put a geronimo cage in your car.

Made from chs not cds as stipulated in the fia book.

Made from 33mm thick steel with an in sufficient wall thickness.

Dangerous jointing that would collapse in a crash, plus the tube has a weak point as its seemed.

Ollie, I don't think I am suitable qualified or knowledgeable to comment on the difference between "FIA Specification" vs "FIA National Specification" in terms on what is most suitable for your application.

I personall like Roll Centre as there products I well made & all of them are FIA approved (although there are different standards for different level of competition) and price wise they are pretty competitive, there "cheapest" cage is not much more than most non FIA approved cages made by other companies. Hopefully I'll start to fit mine in the next couple of weeks and when I do I'll post some pictures.

Edit: This is what I went for:

in my opinion id say that was prob for the best

in a side impact that upper 'dog leg' bar would do precious little other than twist

on a safety item such as a roll cage, id rather take a hit financially rather than physically if you catch my drift, trust me on that!!

weld it in, and tie it to the body where ever possible.

i would imagine you dont want to be putting a new cage in now.

Lol... It isnt fully welded, just bolted.

But to be fair, I wasnt 100% sure on whether I was going to get one at all. So maybes its not the best, but its better than not having one.

Made some big progress today, I'l update my build thread in abit, but its been shit and all my old picture links dont work anymore.

Geronimo cages, your safer without a cage at all.

you have a crash and that seemed tube splits, its right next to your head, with you flying around a fair bit in the cabin.

sam have you seen this happen? have you seen a geronimo cage first hand?
do you know the load ratings of the steel? what sort of loads are applied in a crash?
just trying to figure out how you can slate this cage so much.

in my opinion that steel tubing is going to add strength to the shell in the event of a crash. lagg it all properly around you and the passenger to make sure if you do have a crash it doesnt hurt your head lol.
