Yes thanks for that. Not even thought about 3D, after all my TV ATM doesn't even have a scart plug lol, so thinking of 3D is way OTT :)

I have 2 of these as monitors. They seem to take the abuse just fine. in a very warm room. on for 16 hours a day. 4 months in. not a glitch. no dead pixels. nothing.

Panasonic is the only tv I would buy and in plasma. I can stand the digital look of LCD or led and on the led stuff I see ghosting on fast moving images.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Oh as for size the distance from the tv should be 3.5 times it's diagonal

I have Samsung and Panasonic. Both are very good Hi-Def tv's if you are connected to Hi-Def.

Toshiba are my favorite, I've got a couple.

Don't get talked into getting a massive one. 32" wide is big enough in almost all cases IMO.

I think that if you have lived with TV without a scart for a long time then any new tv will be an improvement. I agree that my toshiba lcd does ghost a little, but it doesn't bug me at all.

Just go to a decent shop with lots on display. Choose one you like the look of in budget and then go and find it cheeper on t'internet.

I have a Pioneer Kuro and it's fantastic, but apparently the newer ones aren't nearly as good.

We also have one in the bedroom, which is an ebuyer special (like the one linked above). They are generally LG inside a black box. That has also been spot on with a decent enough picture

I too have a pioneer kuro (kuro is black in Japanese), they producethe best black of all time. They actually have a very large following. However pioneer don't make them any more. And they cost a small fortune (£3k). Today's tv's are far better value. If you want good, buy a what hi fi, look at the reviews. The back then go online and find one cheap. I've done that without even looking at the tv and not been disappointed.

You need to decide on size and how much you want to spend. Pick 2 or three units and look at those. IMO looking ina store isn't the best idea as the factory settings are never any good anyways.

Good luck!

Call me a tool if you want but I have a 42" Plasma bought off a mate and its perfectly fine for the limited amount of TV I watch.
Maybe some people can play with the settings to their hearts content and get a "superior" picture, but I reckon most of us would be hard pushed to tell any difference?

Anyway Matt whilst you are at the electricals shop are you going to consider an upgrade to the best tape player in the Willymini?
