Thought i'd share my N/A 1275 that I finished last year. Since then i've been building a 998 turbo (post to come later) and learning lots from TM.

I started off with a lovely 998 racing green edition which i soon found out had been patched up with fiberglass all over the place and had more hidden rust than i thought possible. So flogged the shell, kept all the decent parts to the car and got me a 1275 sprite that someone had given up working on, was in good condition just needed the new front end welding on and a few small fixes.

Got an F1 Ferrari red paint and sprayed the inside but my setup wasn't good enough for a decent finish so had the outside done for me.

Work started on the engine. Made some improvements to the ports and chambers. Then made it look all shiny and clean.

Here's the car just after his MOT

Was running like crap because i'd changed the cam, put bigger SU on and the head mods but didn't have any other needles so took it to the rollers

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

nice indeed, did you get any power figures ?

Yeah, just under 70 bhp (can't remember torque, it's on the print out at home. i'll add it when i go back)

Ideally my cam needs timing in tho, I didn't know about it at the time so just lined up the dots.

I've heard that 70 bhp is about right for the setup. I have 1.75inch HIF, kent 266 cam, and ported & flowed head. The rest is standard. It does 0-60 in just under 10 secs

That's a very nice looking Mini, but with bonnet stripes it will just be another cooper look-a-like like mine.

Cheers,
Yeah I like it, still works well in traffic but just adds some ummph when needed.

Yeah, i did think that. That's why they haven't gone on yet. Perhaps i should get a vote for adding stripes...

Just found the print-out from the rollers:

68 lbs/ft @ 3,500 rpm
64 bhp @ 5700rpm (103mph)

looks like I was doing some optimistic rounding when I said 70bhp earlier
Red is before, black is after. Was just after the rebuild so had completely the wrong needle.

Am going on a shoot out next week so will be nice to compare the curves and get a bit of a tune up (I imagine I can't do a direct comparison due to it being a different dyno but should be same ball park)

Here are the pics and results of the rolling road in Yate..

Happy with the result. Still pretty much the same as two years ago. Shows a nice flat torque curve so that's good.
When i've got some time i might plot the two different roads on the same scale so i can compare.
