i think i've posted a pic up of my car a while back when i fitted the 10's, but thought i'd put up proper thread though.

Few pics of the min, was a rover coop injection, but that didnt last long. It was housing a 1275 mg metty engine which i rebuilt about 3 years back, but since that engines had it, im replacing it with either a 1289cc NA engine or a 998 turbo depending on how much further the rust goes - i.e. if im taking it appart anymore to reweld stuff it'll be stripped out and turned into a hillclimber/sprint car and will get a temporary 998 turbo motor

The first pic was taken over 3 years ago, but the rust attacked the new front end so it went. On removing the front i found the usual nasties which im trying to repair now though i cant find a fecking pannel for it at the mo!

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

Looks really nice in 1st pic, such a shame that rust loves them.

thought i'd perhaps update this as i havent looked at it in ages, 4th of march i posted this thread and was just after i took the front end off. Its moved on a lot since then, but seems to have taken ages *oh well*

After i took the front end off i found a load more rust

I went round the whole car finding rust, in heinseight i think i would have prefered to get a heritage shell as its cost me over £1000 in pannels, tools, equipment and extra bits and im still left with a patched up mini. It doesnt include nearly a years worth of ballache aswell, live and learn.

car went up onto its side for me to do the inner and outer sills on the drivers side, repeated on the passengers side later on. I did the boot floor at the same time.

heres another for good luck

worth saying that a lot of this work was avoidable if the car hadnt have been fitted with oversills. Get them off if they are fitted to your car.

about a month ago the car looked like this

this pic follows the most amount of ballache i've ever experianced. about 5months welding and grinding to get to this point spending a lot of my free time doing it.

to get to this point i had to replace the sills on both sides, reapir the boot floor, replace the rear subframe mounts on both sides, patch the drivers rear arch, rebuild the valance corner bits, replace the drivers flitch pannel, replace the a-post stifner panel, patch behind both shock mounts and patch the floor in a couple of places. Just before i had taken that pic i had fitted the scuttle pannel. Thats not forgetting repairing the heelboard, inner wings in a couple of places and both front vent mounting panels.

Looking good. Mine really needs doing again properly and it has the dreaded oversills on it!!!

Like the paintjob, very distinctive! Love the different colour in the engine bay.

well done mate!
if you bought a new shell then its not the same mini is it lol!

if everyone bought a nre shell rather than fixing the rust then there would be a lot less minis on the road!!

top job youve done there!

Excellent work, looks like you have done a fine job of salvaging the shell.

Best of luck with the rest of the build.
