this was an engine i consulted on ,around 20 odd years ago ,it used 15 psi and a bit of water/meth injection on a 7.75 to1 cr if i remember correctly ,we used a stainless spacer plate for a cheap solution ,and it had a full on big valve head ,slark i think ,and mg cam , it was v impressive and gave 7 sec dead 0 to 60 with 3 people on board ,vericom proven .id guess at 160 bhp ,, fixed timing at 24 degrees .
good luck with it
regards robert .

Excellent. What kind of exhaust manifold were you guys using? Mine is just a rewelded LCB. Neat job, but good knows ho long it'll last. I'm using a higher CR, less bost and a smaller engine, but I guess it can be quite driveable still :)

I'm loving this concept mate.

Please keep the rest of the car as is. And the colour is a gem.

I noticed an Austin 1300 parked up at my place of work the other day. Looking rather sorry for itself. Might just try and give it a new home. *smiley* If I kind persuade the owner to part with it.

Brilliant work.

its was the metro turbo manifold upside down , should have seen the looks i got when i suggested that ,but with a bit of bonnet work it turned out fine ,the chap who built it is a perfectionist and did a really good job with the bonnet .

Come to think of it. If running a suck through setup, wouldn't EFI be a piece of cake? I'd love a close loop system..

I could always help you with a simple VEMS install, but I think this car is more fitted for the bin TBH *tongue*

So I'm right in thinking that injection would be easy on this?

Did you ever get it going V?

It has been going, but not with the new engine. It will shortly. MiniMinor63 is pissed because he promised to weld the floor :) It was well, to say it in Carl's words. Light!

He has taken the same stealthy route as me. Leave the red underneath the final colour. This way you can the still have the colour of your choice yet reap the red paint power gains.

Haha, great thinking! To be honest, the engine in the 1300 is infact... Black ... Sorry Dave.

Some progress.. Modified 295 head skimmed to 26cc. Should give around 8.9:1 comp. A bit on the low side, but I can always skim more later if necessary.

Thanks a lot to Robert for good info about suck through setups.

V, what's your thinking behind sticking what its traditionally thought of as a small bore head (295) on a 1300?

Not saying it's wrong just curious.

EDIT: Just taken a closer look at the pictures and it's clearly a small bore engine which makes things clearer. It was this fact that the car is 1300 that confused me, I'm only simple.

I believe its called plasti gauge. You use it to determin the clearance between bearing and crank. Never used it myself but never done a new metal build either.

Its all in the detail*smiley*

It should be used in every build really, it's handy for checking if your BE/main journals are tapered or oval.
