A few people have asked in the past how I cut my wheel arches to get the car to run low.

This is how the arch looks on the inside before mods

You now need to make the magic tool,

You need to mark the outside of the rear quarter and cut as shown.

You also need to cut inside the arch like this

And follow the cut into the boot

This bit should then come away

Next you need to create a new lip on the rear quarter, and then insert a some sheet metal like this

Weld in place and it should look like this.

After some paint the inner arch should look like this

After a bit of preping the rear quarter should look like this

And with the arches back on it, you should never tell it's been done.

Clever with the marker and bit of wood, I just eyed it with the grinder, and then used the surface of the inner arch as a guide

Whatsthat mischievious DC up to in the last photo ?

Top How to by the way.

But, my question is:-

Do you let the internal part fly through to form the outer lip of the arch...?

Cheers

I drill holes in everything..!

Good stuff.

I've already done the cutting and welding and now looking for arches to fit. I was going to use Gp2 euros but they don't fit. I've tried a set of sportspacks and they will do but would like sometning different. Does anyone know if the Gp5 euros will fit? I'm looking for something that will continue down onto the rear vallance.

cheers

Rob, I've used LM Euros before (similar to the Gp5 Euro) to good effect. REally need at least a 6" wheel in them though, especially at the back or they look odd!!!!

Don't know anybody who does the LM arches now, going to try the Grp5 Euros on my current build but expecting them to look pap over the wheels we ar egoing to use.

Let me know how you get on ... post a pic when done.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

if you want thinner arches as i do then try a front one on the rear ive only offered one up but it does look like it could work. i.e n/s/f put on o/s/r.

this is just an idea and as ive got no wheels on my car i cant tell if it will work?

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

They look dead like Centrelines used on the big Yanky stuff. Didn't think you got them smaller than 14" though.

Cheers guys.

I'm at the stage of prep for paint and want to get the arches sorted first. I want to use 10's and I think the Sportspacks need a 7" rim (very nice but lots of cash!) to do it justice. I'll try the GP5 euros and let you know how I get on
