Who has a lambda sensor on their mirage manifolds?

Did Mirage fit the boss or did you get it fitted yourself?

I usually do them myself on mild tube, but I can't weld stainless withiout ruining it an don't want to harm any guarantee.

Ant news on production of the manifolds.

Wil,

Could you put it in the down pipe (if mild steel) just below the elbow ?

or does it need to be close to the turbo ?

For a wideband lambda sensor to last any amount of time it needs to be kept below 800 degrees celsius.
It is generally considered necessary to mount it at least 0.5 mtr after the turbo.
I would think the optimum would be to mount it somewhere around the bottom bend of the down pipe possibly with an access hole in the floor.

Dave

Don't want to keep banging on but if you want your wideband sensor to last have a look at the warnings at the bottom of this page.

http://wbo2.com/lsu/default.htm

I am pretty sure it will be far too hot at the position shown.

Dave

My narrow-band unit live in my cast elbow without probs for many years - but I wasn't about to risk my pretty Wideband unit LOL!
This now sits (horizontally) in the downpipe, at a point in line with the two holes in the rear 'mouts outriggers' on the front subby. This is a good place for it - out of the way of damage from the road and far enough away from the turbo (i feel) to avoid damage.

Vegard, TD is not doing the politician thing. Basically the difference in position is due to using two different Lambda sensors, narrow band and wide band.
The max temp on the wide band is more critical to avoid damage.
The narrow band, especially early ones needed exhaust heat put into them to operate and are generally mounted closer to the exhaust port face.

Dave

As your avtar states " I pick holes in everything". I suppose I must be a little like you.
I relly hope we will not fall out over this as I respect what you have to say on this and other related forums and what you are doing with your Mini,s.
Once again sorry if I offended you, It was NOT my intention
