Why do you need to take the timing cover off for the crank pully? I took the starter out and jamed a screwdriver in there to hold the engine while I undone the nut.

I think its the same size as the tower bolts if that helps. oh and there is a lock tab in there to! Once you have levered this back,
Pop the socket on then a 4" extension to give you clearance over the mount bracket and get a tee bar a suitable extension tube. If you have a side mount rad you will have to take it off.

Pop the car in gear and put the hand break on. then undo. you may need to chock the wheels etc

If the engine is out of the car do the starter thing as above as per flywheel bolt. *smiley*

Crank bolt flywheel end is 1 1/2". Pulley end is 1 5/16".

Both sockets are handy to have as they are used elsewhere on the car, 1 1/2" fits the balljoint domed nuts, 1 5/16" fits the tower bolts, CV joint nut, camshaft end nut and steering wheel nut.

Thats the pulley end bolt and as Tom says it is 1 and 5/16 inches.

Follow procedure as above. Make sure you tap the lock tab down first.*smiley*

Getting a bit O/T now but i have a socket marked 3/4 BSW, 7/8BSF, its great for the big towerbolts and CV's and otherstuff that size as its a "snug!" fit to the point where it just needs a tap to get it on the nut.

its the absolute nuts for camshaft nuts though, tap it on an where some sockets slip off as the nut is so thin this one will stay there!

Usefull doing cam timing too as the bar will stay on the crank pully bolt while you dick around with adjusting the cam timing.

by the sounds of it, its the engine to gearbox mount.

If you put a jack under the gearbox to take the weight, the remove the 2 bolts running front to back. this removes the whole mount needed to get at the bolt (after taking the rad out of course)

Dead simple *smiley*

cant see the pics btw so just going on experience.

Ive just got round to taking the mount off, and theres two bolts at the front of the engine, and 2 at the back. do i jack the engine up a little bit to get the socket onto the crankshaft pulley Nut, once the engine to gearbox mount nuts are off.
It looks like, once you take the bolts off, the engine comes away from the boby, but to get the whole mount off, ill have to take more bots off, which are a pain to get to ?
Hers a pic..
What shall i do..
Thanks alot.. :)

support the engine with a jack and Just take the two bolts out you have arrowed, then jack the engine up about an inch.

the 2 arrowed bolts have captive nuts on the other end.

Hi,
You need the 1 5/16" socket, the 33mm won't fit. I've never seen a bolt on a mini that says 33mm on it???
As for the bolts not lining up you'll need to get a levering bar of some sort between the bracket and gear box to line them up.
Just line up one hole to start with, get the bolt in a turn or so. Then use the jack and or lever bar to get the other lined up, job done *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)
