Hi all, has anyone used a renault 5 turbo intercooler in a mini set up? If so could you post some pics of your install? Im not sure what to fix it to, as im using a flip front.

Cheers.

I bolted mine to the subframe, theres some pics of it in my album, although the fixings aren't obvious!

There is loads of pics on here, as I had to do a search when I fitted mine 18 months ago.

Get your self a few metal offcuts and get creative. The IC mounting is one of the most personalised parts of a turbo Mini as there is and never will be a 'right' / 'factory type' instal to take inspiration from!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Roger thats very true, if only i could weld..

i can bolt something up no probs, just wonder if it had been done before so i could get the job done as quickly as possible, to be honest im not that bothered about it being personalised, i just want it on the road *wink*

Hi,
I've seen very long jubilee clips round R5 intercoolers to stop them blowing the ends off.
Maybe you could use them to clamp some metal strips on each end then bolt the strips to something on the car, sort of Meccano meets Blue Peter. *wink*
EDIT: Failing that get some ali brackets tigged onto the core end plates?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

If your fitting in the wing, do as follows....

1. Use two peices of 3mm steel approx 30mm wide

2. Drill two 4mm holes side by side one end of each plate.

3. On the vertical edge of subby drill 4 4mm holes (2 for each plate).

4. Bend plates at right angle approx 10mm from holes

5. Check IC for fitment drill 1 X 20mm where lug on IC meets plate.

6. Fit grommet in 20mm (use grommet with hole to suit lug)

7. Trim off plates to length.

8. Bolt plates to subby

9. IC drops into grommets via the lugs.

10. Cut hoses to suit

Jobs a gooden *wink*

It might still happen matt. i sorted brakes and indicators yesterday. Fuelling is still fucked and ball joints still need doing, they're really loose.

Sorry for the TJ. Mark, keep us posted on your progress with the IC install.
