Hi all,
This is me car.
1275 MG Metro Turbo.
Cam belt driven.
Unleaded cylinder head with bronze valve guides,
10 row oil cooler. and maniflow turbo single 2" box system.
Ive just orderd a T-hose for the dump valve i want to get.
Im still learning stuff, did a search, but still not 100% sure what i do.
Right im going to get a dump valve,
Worked out how to fit it.
So which 1 would you say i get. or would the cheaper one be ok.

http://www.nicenewcar.co.uk/parts/part-2079.html
http://www.xfactormotorsport.co.uk/viewprod.asp?prod_id=284
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then i want to up the boost to about 8 (psi)
So i Need.
(1) 8 (psi) Needle
(2) a bleed valve, Can someone show me what one i get.
And still not 100% how you fit and boost it up. is there something that has to be done to the fuel also ?
And what else would you say i need to get and do to get this all up and running.
Be great if someone could inlighten me.
Sorry if this has be asked before. but i just need bit more input.
Be more then greatful if someone could help.
Regard's

Most people on here use a single piston Baileys or a diaphragm type from Forge. After doing a lot of research on this, Baileys are of the piston variety of DV and some people have reported that the seals in this DV swell with fuel contamination and this results in the piston sticking open. The forge type are diaphragm type DVs and these don't have this prob but instead the diaphragms can split. However you can get uprated diaphragms for them. I don't think there is any benifit of a twin piston type on an A series, they are for cars with air flow meters (??).

The DV in the first link looks like this one...

Might save you a few £££s.

Hi,
Bin the ECU then you'll run 7psi, couple of turns on the acutuator and it'll be 8psi. It'll perform better than with a bleed valve too.
Get it set up on a rolling road, that's essential.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

It's blocked.
Doe's this mean there is no ECU ?

Hi,
Not the one in the picture.
You need to follow the pipe from the actuator to the turbo compressor housing and fit a Manual Boost Controller (MBC) Ebay is the best bet
Sorry my mistake, the standard actuator only runs 4 psi.
With the MBC you'll be able to set it to 8psi.
Set it up on the rollers, think about putting an intercooler in.
Do a search, it works well on this site, try ecu or boost or mbc or bleed etc.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Bat is right. Go to the other side of the carb and take a pic, we'll show you where you need to fit the bleed valve/mbc.

http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/v/2005938573859686617

And in the link below, is that the (MBC) i need. is the bleed valve the same as a (MBC)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Manual-Boost-Control...1QQcmdZViewItem

As for a vacum take off. the car has one of these fitted, boost gauge.
To be honnest i dont really understand what it tell's me as such.. but could i came of this ?

Hi,
That looks like a bleed valve to me, despite the description.
The engine picture's not much use other than you can see the actuator. Try this link from the "How to" section of the site

Unfortunately someone has stolen the pics, Iain?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Reet,

See that "loop" that runs from the actuator to the compressor?

Well, the bleed valve goes between that, ie, the actutor if fool it is getting less boost where as the engine is getting more therefore more power.

It is worth making that loop longer so it is easier to get to and make sure it is out of harms way, ie not too close to the exhaust manifold etc.

If you want it in car you can put a T piece in that loop and run into the cabin, the bottom outlet on that ebay valve is the outlet, that can just go atmosphere. If you run it in car just block one side of the valve.

Hope that helps.

JF.

If you want it mounted in the car so it can be adjusted on the fly then try this...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Turbo-bleed-boost-va...1QQcmdZViewItem

If you want one as in the pic above (ie fitted and adjusted from the engine bay) then...

If you want more boost just pull the wires off the solonoid, it does make a difference, I have owned 4 Mtero turbos.

It will go bang eventually.

Have fun.....

Yes you can mount the first bleed valve in the link I posted above on the dash and anywhere handy in the car. On the fly as in while your in the car. With it mounted on the dash say, you can fiddle about with it, if it's mounted in the engine bay then you can only tweek when your out of the car. A boost gauge will tell you what boost your running. Say for example this one from our old friend ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Autogauge-52mm-W...1QQcmdZViewItem

But with all that said if your planning on running with the solenoid disconected you'll get 7 psi without a bleed valve as you actuator is set for 7 psi!
