Hi there, as it says, will it be fairly easy? Can't get the metro turbo carb here in South Africa.

Also, it seems many people have tried to make their own plenum chambers with little success. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it because you can't reproduce the same effect of the restrictor sleeve with a restrictor plate?

Any advice appreciated.
Thnx.

Somewhere on this site there is a very good guide to converting a standard HIFF44 for turbo use but I'm having trouble finding it. In the mean time have a read of these threads:

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=1153
http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=2785

As for the plenum, Nic has managed to make one that works, but it is the restrictor that is key to getting it to work. Have a look at this thread for more info:

Bit of post excavation here, but dose anyone know what the title of the thread with the guide to converting a std HIF to TURBO HIF is. I have been searching for the guts of a half hour and all I can find, is this thread the one turbo Dave posted a pic in but that pic don’t work anymore,

I know I seen it not to long ago but still cant find it.

edit: because Im having a crap spelling and grammer day sorry in advance.

Hi,
There's also a thread about a Pitot tube (or something like that) that you can use instead of the restrictor....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

yes you can learn a lot from psimini, he found how to make a strong running turbo mini, n/a hif44 carbed without restrictor, and read each of his post to understand how he did it, and how it does working, inded very well:

* mini runs just gets 2psi boost then cuts out. with a test its lean. do i need it richer

* my mini hits boost guage reads 5psi then cuts out. possible fuel problem.

* when my mini comes onto boost it cuts out. either runs out of fuel or too much???

In first I though this guy was a joke, having seen his vids on you tube , sure he is on the good way , having found this forum.
And sure a lot of here will help,
but to receive help you need to accept it, and then learn instead of teaching.
I think this guy just take the wrong way , so highlight this
cheers

That's actually quite funny seeing as your plugs glow red hot and you cant get it to go over 2psi....

*tongue**tongue**tongue**tongue*

Or maybe I dont grasp the concept of "works fine"

The carburettor can be made to work without the restrictor, but it causes a LOT of grief.

I was thinking of colouring mine too....

Then I remembered that I'm building a Fuel Injection system...... so no dashpot.

But maybe there's something on the FI that I could colour though... Hmmmmmm.

Rod,

You have a nice bunch of coloured wires. That should count.
