My mint mini 35 was sadly wrote off yesterday (01/06/07) by a HGV with low loader in tow. A day i will never forget as like most mini owners there mini is there pride and joy and love showing them off. I had just filled the tank to the brim about half a mile away from the petrol station when stationary was hit by atleast 100 tonne of low loader the mini nor the full tank didnt stand a chance, as the fire brigade removed the battery and caused a spark 7.5 gallons erupted into flames, the most heart destroying thing that has happed to me to date, seeing my pride and joy burn before my with nothing i could do the flames were soon under control, but never the less the scene is etched into my mind. I refused to get in the ambulance saying i want to make sure my car is ok, thinkig back should of gone as it was a right off and i only went to A&E later that night where i had to wait for hours. Its all in my favour the driver took responsibility (plenty of whitnesses) should get a good pay out which i hope to rebuild it with a BMH shell, have some pics will post soon. Any ideas whats the car is worth so i dont get raped by the insurance company. I know what its worth to me but they may see it differently. Hope this wont delay my turbo build but spur it on. I feel like naming and shaming the offending transport company for an accident that shouldnt of happened so here we go,

I know you are upset and angry but accidents happen, the truck didn't drive into you on purpose, I've removed the name as TM does not want to get sued for slagging off a firm involved in a accident.....

Accidents do happen and this one could be avoided as i was stationary. Its not that so much which rubs me up the wrong way it was the way he was responding to the situation. The lorry driver was still an arse hole as when told to get out of his HGV he refused and with 7.5 gall of high octane running through a conjested Stafford he also refused to turn his engine off and only did so when more police arrived on the scene, will put the company in company's to avoid to save legal jargon. Many thanks. |

This totally sucks. Sorry about that... The driver of the truck might not exactly have a job any more / much longer so no point dragging the company out into the open.

Gutted for you, I had a similar thing last january. The key with insurance companies is not to back down, If they make an obsene offer that is crap don't accept it.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder. On 15th Aug, 2011 robert said:
