Hi all, after a bit of searching i couldn't find a full answer to what im after so thought i would post.. but i guess its been discussed before.

How do you plumb the Turbo inlet manifold water take off's, where do they link up to etc?

also am i correct in saying that the heater take off from the head should be plumbed back into the thermostat housing? (if not using a heater), or can i link all this together with the above some way and circulate the water?

thanks in advance, Mark.

Im not running a heater on my n/a at the moment but when i got the car, someone had blocked the takeoff at the clutch end of the head with a bolt and the same on the bottom hose where it circulates back in! Not sure if this is alright, i guess just not running a heater or heated inlet manifold so i think it might be ok?

i was under the impression that it wasn't a good idea to block it off..

I have no idea! My old n/a stage 4 never had a take off on the end at all! But in the casting you could see where to drill a hole for the takeoff if you wanted to run one

Anything you can take out of #4 end water wise is a good plan as they generally run hot at that end of the head.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

would it be ok to run from the head through the heater then the water-cooled turbo, then a sandwhich plate in the thermostat housing?

It would get a bit hot in the cabin cos you wont be able to turn the heater off otherwise the turbo gets no water!! but if you mean just a heater core mounted in the engine bay.... no reason why not, it still cools the water.

There are several options to this but none are neat and satisfactory really.

I've used 2 SPi type heater valves and a 3 T pieces in the past.

Take water out of the head to the turbo.

From the turbo use a T-piece with a heater valve on each oulet leg connected so that when one is open the other is closed. On one outlet take this back to thermostat housing.

On the other leg goes to the heater, which returns to the leg of the T-piece at the thermostat housing.

This gives you cooling to the turbo at all times and a heater you could toast bread with!!!!!

It takes some real effort to make it all look tidy but works ok when in place.
