I know there are a fair few on here that are planning on using or using the Gt17 but what are you doing with regards to dowpipe?

I know Robert is using some kind of Merc/home made combo, but I quite like the look of the standard elbow as it looks like it has a built in O2 sensor boss which could come in handy(and its alot less effort than making one*laughing*), its just they don't seem easy to find?

Cheers
Matt

Me too!

There was a standard downpipe on ebay last week, but it looked like the bend was far more than 90 degrees.

You want something like this but a third of the price:

This is what I meant about the angle:

Hi,
What car did the bits that fit the turbo come off?
I think the exhaust housing outlet looks the same as a Cossie T3, but I've not done any measuring....
EDIT : Paul ... You're right I've seen them on the car and they almost double back on themselves and it's a big lump too!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Photos of ours here. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=163699

I had a flange and bell made up (£12) then used a tight 90 deg bend from tweekies and some other bits of pipe.

It's not going to win any style awards, and it was a pain to make, but it does the job and was cheap(ish)

Lol..so its not just me thats struggling!

Wil where did you get the bell part made up? The triangular clamp wouldn't be too much of a problem to make if all else fails. :-

I got it done at an exhaust specialist in Macclesfield.

I am thinking of using the exact same specialist in Macclesfield - when I get round to it. I'm thinking of mocking up the flange and bend first and then taking it down to them and letting them work their magic.

Ahh, the return of the flange. All is right in the world once more :)

Right...ive sussed out a way of making an elbow that shouldn't cost anymore than about £20-£30.

I'll put a build guide up in the next week or so with some pics! :)

Yeah it could be but most companys won't post and because alot of the pipes have cat's fitted they want alot for them.

So far mine has cost me £11.99 and I just need some welding done. *laughing*

I went to my local exhaust company and found an old 2.5" exhaust (in the scrap bin) with a bell on the end. Chopped the end off then welded it to a 2.5" 90 degree elbow, bought a 2.5" trianglar flange off ebay, and welded the 90 degree elbow onto the 2" downpipe. All in all it cost me about £30 for the down pipe. *happy*
