Depends entirely where you want to mount it, and the pipe routes you intend to take !!!!!

Nobody else can tell you what you need.

Any local stainless/aluminium supplier can sort stainless bends that are good to use, and straight sections of pipe.

Or the typical hose suppliers for silicone jointers.

Samco, SFS, Viper etc etc etc.

You need to find out where you want it first (or where it will fit)

Then make the pipe work as short as poss, most silicone hose comes in 1 meter straight lenghts or 90 / 45 / 130 / 180 bends.

Id use hose for the bends then alloy tube to join up.

Have a serch as theres been a few recent threads about hose.

The R5 Ic I believe from memory has 2 3/8" outlets on it, you will have to reduce down in size, depending on what plenum and turbo you will be using, size will vary. fitting it can be a little tight, I offered one up last week, fits in better on the side rather than upright.

Ended up using a escort rs item

Hope this helps
Shane

Hi,
Zena Racing on E bay has had some good comments on here, cheap too :)
I bought my alloy bends 90, 135 and 45 from Merlin Motorsport.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

In general you want as few tight bends as possible.

I went down to the scrapyard with a screwdriver and a tape measure. I had some thought about what bends I needed and just got a handfull of pipes (cost around a tenner).

I then just used some bits of exhaust bends and cut-offs to bodge it in. It still needs a few extra bends in as you can see, but it works ok.

P.S. Its and RS item, not a GT, but you get the idea.

I did a bit of both..

In some areas I used a metal bend, like over the Servo and around the head and in others I used rubber 90's as I think sillicon is overrated, and more to the point overpriced, IMHO I dont think you need it... you don't see silicone in many OEM installs...

If your running a standard T3 you'll need a 90 degree reducer from 51mm (assuming your using that size hose for the rest of the intall) to 45mm. *wink*

I used 48 ID silicone hose for all of mine. It fits the standard plenum and compressor outlet and will stretch over 50mm pipe. So no need for reducers.

The only way to work ot what you need, is to get the intercooler into position and see where the pipework can run from there.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

just go with whichever one you can get to fit the best/easiest dude, i think the RS one might be the easier choice.

Thinking about this a bit more, I would imagine that the Ford item would flow better as the Renault one is a double pass system.

To be honest it would be pretty easy to measure which is the better flowing IC with a large water cooler bottle and timing how long it takes to empty the bottle through each IC in turn (not my idea, Robert originally suggested it) however whilst this measures flow it doesn't measure cooling efficiency.

The Escort has smaller core area though. Swings and roundabouts. the R5 would probably cool more, but could be more restrictive.

But it may have sufficient flow area, that is isnt restrictive at all.

In standard from the R5 is not so good, but remove the flap thingy inside and block up the remaining hole and they can be good.

Problem that I found is that they blow to bits at 15psi. and I dont mean the end caps blowing off (I had mine all strapped up) the core started splittting at the ends.

15 years ago the R5 unit was probably pretty good, but there are better ones around. The RS on is a similar vintage but is much better made IMO.

Ill be using one of Nics plenums, which provides a 2" tail on the left hand side of the plenum, which allows IC pipework to be fitted a little easier, quite a few gents on here are using them.

Your best to Pm him the one he has just had his mate make for was inteneded t go on my mini minus, so needed to have different dimensions, but due to a small change of plans its been donated to my other mini for now. Hes a right helpfull chap (when not full of alcohol and pevring on girls) Another option Is John Flanigan (sp) posts as JF on here, he offers moddified plenums using the metro item, at a good price.
Hope this helps
