Hey guys new to this forum been tinkering around with mini's in australia for a sometime time, just decided that I should toy with turboing one of them.

What i need is peoples opinions, advice and ideas.
First up do many people use a suck through turbo setup? Why, why not... I have this manifold and will fit without mods to firewall, I am really not to knowledgeable on boosted applications and need to know everything I need.

My engine is a 1360 fresh build with Avonbar turbo application Head (haven't worked out my comp ratio, no way to do this with the head on is there)
The mainfold is built for a T3, do you think this turbo will be suitable, what are other options etc.

Well besides the obvious what else will I require, to get this thing moving.

My thoughts are the inlet will be hot, but i guess the fuel is going through the turbo anyway so how much hotter can the fuel get?. Another thing is an intercooler impossible to fit with this type setup.

Not sure if I plan to use a weber or run a set of twin 1 3/4 su's on the weber manifold (just what i have atm, little different aswell)
The mianfold is new and has not ever been used, so your thoughts would be highly influential.

Hello & welcome.

A couple of people run suck through set ups, but they are in the minority, in a nut shell suck through prohibits the use off an intercooler which effectively limits the amount of boost you can safety run & the power you can get out of the engine.

As for choice of turbos there's a few out there, T3, T2, T25 & GT17 that people use although there may be others (IHI springs to mind for some reason) the key thing is matching the turbo to the engine, others here are better placed to advise you on this.

As for carbs most people here use a single HIFF 44 (but that's on a blow through set up) as it works and doesn't seem to limit power.
