I'm looking at overboring a 998 by 0.120".

Has anyone done this, and how close to the wire is this with regards to a viable cylinder wall thinkness?

I think I'd be left with 3mm between 1 & 2 an 3 & 4.

Is there any problem with waterways being exposed be boring this big?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ewan

I'm planning to do the same.

Pistons would not be available if it was not viable.

I've measured the cylinder wall thickness and there is approx. 6-7mm. Plenty to take out.

Don't forget that a 74mm bore on a 1275 is even more than 0.120".

I'm also looking at going down this route but with possibly a few other mods including offset bores if I can get away with it. At the moment I'm on the look out for a 998 bloke to cut in half so I can see what I've got to play with.
