Another option for seat mount is to go onto the sill and the centre tunnel - using the front cross member as well - have done this with the seat in the gold car and its rock solid JK On 23rd Jun, 2008 wil_h said:
Mine was bolted to the floor and moved around loads. I now have two square-section bars that run from sill to tunnel which the seat is mounted on. ...My car is currently having panels etc welded. While it's in his unit i want to have whats described above carried out too. is it possible someone has a picture or 2. Or even a illustration in paint so i can describe to him what i'm after/show him so he can fabricate it? On 2nd Mar, 2008 joeybaby83 said:

I bought a MK1 cross member, cost £40, just offered it up, and welded it in :)

Mounts in that metro look borderline dangerous to me, looks like they are made from house radiator wall brackets.....not up to the job IMO.

Need to make the angle at least the same thickness as the mounts. They look like sparco mounts, so 3mm mildsteel minimum. Have the rear support at the end of the mount, not near the middle. Edited by Jason G on 31st Aug, 2008. On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

I made custom brackets for the seats. These were made from 6mm 50x100m aluminium angle. I dont need that many holes, but as I was unsure of a confortable position, it made it easy to find it. I will re make them with only a few holes for slight adjustment :)

I find that the seat is WAY to high in the car if you fit the brackets on the cross member(s).

The brackets bolts look abit small. I think I used M8's possibly M10's on mine. On 1st Sep, 2008 Sprocket said:

M8 12.9s mate, if they are good enough to hold the seat to the brackets they are good enough to hold the brackets to the floor:) On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

With those brackets I made, the seat at iots lowest adjustment, sits down inbetween the cross members, and the front lip of the seat is almost touching the cross member, no pint going lower than that
Whats with all the un nescisary negative comments today

Depends how tall you are I guess as to where the seat needs to be.

I prefer to have the seat high, but if you do track days etc you don't want your crash helmet hitting the roof especially if something happens. On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:
