I am lookin to do a custom turbo setup on my 1275 Single port injection motor and wondered what all i would have to upgrade for the fuel system and how i would go about that being its a fuel injected motor, would i need a new injector? Fuel pump? how would i program the fuel curve if needed? thanks for the help

Easiest way is to throw away all the SPI gubbins and use a good old carburettor.

Well... Running low boost, say 5 psi would i even need to adjust the fuel curve any? or allow for more fuel?

Yes. 5psi boost pressure is approx 30% more air than NA.

There is a whole section on the forum entitked "A-Series EFI / Injection ".

I suggest you have a good read through that.

You will then realise why most people who turbo the A series do as Tom says and use the well proven carburettor and you will also see what progress has been made by those very few people who are trying injection and how they've done it, or are trying to do it.

Also, when reading through there, make sure you understand the difference between trying to do it on a 7 or 8 port conversion (relatively easy) compared to a standard 5 port head (lots of reading and understanding required).

you might find getting through emissions at MOT time difficult with an spi donor vehicle

Hi,
A mappable ECU and an extra injector should do the job.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

if you change the engine on the log book to the engine from a metro turbo/era then you will come under the emmissions test for that engine and not the SPI engine.

thats what ive got to try and figure out how to do...

dont you just fill in your log book and send it off...
i think its the age of the engine not the original vehicle, but other than that i have not looked into it as my mini's emissions is high as standard so my tester doesnt need to know*happy*

yeah you should be able to but i am using the spi engine just swapping to carb etc. there are no codes for the engines are there just casting numbers? or are there?

if not its simple, if there are its slightly more complicated.

Hi,
You've got to prove to the MOT tester that the engine is a different age to the car so that the emissions are tested to the capabilities of the engine.
Therefore sticking a carb on an injection engine isn't going to do it.

if not then how is anybody going to know thats its not an older engine?

this is the problem im having at the moment..if im not going to be able to get away with it i guess im just going to have to go K-Head muahahahaha

Hi,
Yeah course there is. That's how the MOT tester can check he's carrying out the right test.
When he puts your reg into the computer it comes up with all the detail on your log book.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Should be on the top of the block just below the head, just above the alternator.
Cheers,
Gavin :)
