Hey all

Im new to the whole forced induction area so am in need of some advice.
I have a 1995 mayfair with a 1990 1275 metro carb engine in it, i want more power from the engine and have heard that you can just bolt a metro turbo on with the correct exhaust and inlet manifolds and then just run an oil line to the turbo! Is this true? I thought that you would have to fit low compression pistons or forged pistons? Is there anything else that needs to be done? If anyone has done it i would love to hear exactly how.

Many thanks
Dave

Your asking very basic questions which have all been answered before. Use the search button to find the answers you need.

But the short answer is NO

EDIT: Beaten to it ^^

dave, as dizzle has pointed out.

from my limited experience of the forum:

Search first, ask later

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

Many have done it.... but not as simply as you describe - that (in part) is why this forum exists.

I started over a year ago, joined this forum, and am still learning.

You might have been there first but your wrong.

The short answer is YES.

The longer answer is yes but don't expect the engine to last very long before it goes back. There are some very good how to guides that I suggest you have a read through before attempting to fit a turbo. Have a look here: http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=241013 it might help to clear things up.

I am correct, unless you consider cutting a hole in the bulkhead a bolt on mod

Hi,
True, the engine would have to come out for that little mod *wink*
A Mirage manifold and a T2 turbo would solve that problem, but it's a little more work.
You'd probably get away with 4 psi with alterations to timing and the use of a Metro turbo carb and plenum, but only if the engine is in top condition.
As has already been said, do your research first, it will save you time, money and a melt down!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
