is this normal?

my build can be found in the 'show us yours' section.

basically i need to drop the engine in, plumb it in, sort fueling, ignition and brakes and its ready to go

in reccent months i have not done a lot on it. i have had a lot on, dont seem to be able to find the time/motivation to complete

i still love the car but need to pull my finger out. a few weeks hard graft and it could be road ready

has anyone else had this, when there is light at the end of the tunnel they slow down/stop on their build!?

I know what you mean8-)
I now have started the engine for the first time and i get the motivation back again. But hang on, build it and drive it.

It's all worth it*happy*

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Its all to do with focus. If you are doing too many other things its difficult to keep focusing on the Mini (family, work etc etc )

Try the "How to eat an elephant" approach.

i posted a while ago about my lack of motivation, your not on your own. just need to get back what you had when you started the project.

maybe you need to go to a show or a meet or something to get you enthusiastic again. it will be worth it when you get to drive it. :)

do one thing which insprires you and motivates you .................like

what i do, on some projects, i prep the car and paint the roof first chequerd which inspires me to compleate the rest of the project ....... it may be done the wrong way around so to speak, but it sure get the motivation going every time i look at it

Sit in it and make engine noises!

*smiley*

This helped me get off my arse and get the car on the road this year after an 18 month gap.

Find someone who can take you out in their motor. It will spur you on.

As Benross said, do something easy to get you started.

I was the same position as you when I had a similar amount left. It's so worth it when it's done though.

As above post. Let someone take you out in there turbo if possible. I was all up for selling mine after I came back from holiday and had no money. Took it out that afternoon and NO WAY I'M SELLING IT!!! It's fooking awesome. Honestly try and get it finished you won't be disappointed.

Deffo have a ride! It's the best motivation. Of you can't get a ride, go to a show.

It's very normal to loose focus. I ran out of money to get mine finished, so it sat there for ages. I just did all the bits that didn't cost first and planned (read obsessed about) how I would do it.

Get back onto it, little and often. You won't regret it once you go out for the first spin!

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I'm in the same situation at the moment. I popped over to help my mate out with his mini yesterday night and it has spurred me to work on mine this weekend.
