Scruffy could you be more specific please?

Are you talking about the thrust washers that go on the radius arm pins?

Or are you on about shimming the brackets to adjust tracking as the minispares part CK17?

Rover didn't use shims or selective assembly though did they?

The biggest gain suspension wise on a Mini is the rear tracking and its relationship to the front. Therefore you need to either use tracking/camber brackets or use shims under the radius arm brackets to achieve the correct geometry. So yes the Minispares shims!

I see your point but if I just want a standard setup, then simply fitting some original brackets will be no worse than a factory mini?

Yes but the trouble you are going to to fit them is the same as fitting adjustable tracking brackets and these will transform your handling!
