I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the good people here on the forum. After a disasterous supercharged engine from a so called "premium" builder that was effectivley scrap, I came on here and built myself an engine with the attitude of "if it blows up, theres only myself to blame". Well after much advise taken and heeded I am pleased to say it made it to SRE on saturday (with Turbominivanman) and made a heathly 99.5bhp (standard 998 with 12g295 and T2) and 95lbs/ft of torque. I cannot recommend Neil Slark enough. He is such a nice guy, and a very intelligent rolling road operator. He knows megajolt and megasquirt like the back of his hands. I was very impressed.

It didn't blow up, and it made it home in one peice! So I single finger salute to that said manufacturer, you know who you are. It was all you and no one else.

THANK YOU TURBO MINIS!! *happy*

Well done buddy.

I think you should name and shame said builder. We believe in sharing both good and bad experiences to the benefit of others here on TM.

Slark was an hour there, 40 mins back!!!

I'm reluctant to name them as I had so many problems with them. Even Tongue point when I asked for my money back after the third engine blew up at SRE and Tony said I'd get nothing and he'd see me in court!

They did rebuild the engine again (1360cc supercharged, lightened balanced, ultralight fly, omega pistons, alloy vernier, sw5-07, sc drops, rebuilt box, x pin diff £best part of 4k), but it took public broadcasts of emails to get what I wanted.

The first crank they sent me was scrap, I noticed a bad joinal so took it to a local trusted engineer who measured the crank - it was bent, and all but one journal was conical....

God bless Jonspeed...

Southern Norway.

lol, bought a centre main strap of them on ebay and ofc i got the weaker bolts =/ told him so at PM, but all he said was that it worked good on all the other engines they had been used at, and it was no problem to use them.

I then said that he couldn't sell me high tensile bolts when they were in fact weaker than standard, but haven't heard from them again. lol :)

Edit: Got a refund for the bolts now, at a total of 4,5£ so i'm happy :)

I see a trend.

Companies with the suffix 'Speed' should be avoided.

Maybe there are a couple that don't fit this opinion, but the majority are doing them no favours.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Ripspeed used to be a good name too. Im not sure what happened but I think Minispares bought out the Mini side of the business and I think the rest ended up at Halfords, and well, need I say more?

Good work Al. They're good number for a fairly standard 998.

I thought the figures were good to all things considered, and I know they're not inflated like they seem to be these days. You know your getting good honest results!

Such a shame really as some of there kit is well engineered, the vernier was a really nice piece of kit, just the machining and the attitude of staff (owners).

Dan, it looks really crappy from the photo I have of the monitor at SRE! I'll scan the printout when I get home later and get it up. I can tell you torque peaks (with boost) at 4750rpm then tails off, wether that's to do with my turbo needing a rebuild or the actuator not holding or the actuator opening and not keeping boost levels constant I don't know. I thought it would have been constant once boost was met and levels stayed fairly flat?

Peak power is at 5800rpm.

It's certainly interesting looking at the graph.

Richards came on boost a lot sooner (t3 1293) which I was suprised at, and had a lot smoother torque curve than mine!
