Our team are after a new set of 13 inch wheels (our current ones are very heavy) and a nice set of slicks.

Anyone got suggestions of good places to look? (or anyone selling some)
When i've bought wheels for my minis it's been second hand and I've just gone by price and looks but we want something light (and also pretty looking).
And i've not bought slicks so not sure what's best to look out for.

Cheers
Dan

What's your budget?

From what I know about forumula student it has a number of different events, which means a compromise on tyres.

My 13" hillclimb slicks were £200 each. If you have the budget for new tyres try BMTR, they'll have what yon need.

As for wheels, again budget is key. You won't get much lighter than Force racing, but not sure what PCD Carl offers, or what you need.

Most other cast wheels are much the same weight.

As a side my crossply hillclib slicks are much lighter than a radial tyre.

We run hoosiers over here (QUT Motorsport) in FSAE-A. But theres other teams that use goodyears and avons. If you can get hold of the tyre data itd be worth it and see what tyres suit your suspension.

Look for a lighter tyre, our rims are 3 kilos, hoosier 20 inch diameter tyres are about 7 kilos.

i was going to say force racing, but its all down to your budget. Unless you strike lucky and find some magnesium wheels on ebay.
