I'v just rebuilt my T2 (how to thread coming soon), but have a few questions.

I'v spun the turbo iteslf around it the housing so the oil feed is now at the top and take off at the bottom. Only problem is that the actuator mounts are now well off. Whats the solution to this? Drill and tap some new holes?

Also, what pressure is the standard T2 actuator set to? I know it boosts to a max 15psi, but i really only want to be running 10-12 as its a daily drive and i dont want to go make the turbo shit itself.

Can i set it to boost from different pressures? What does changing the actuator arm length do - ie showing more or less thread?

Finally, my oil feeds are different to other T2's iv seen, and don't use banjos nor this kind of fitting

I'v simply got a threaded tube about 15mm i/d.

Is that correct or am i actually in possession of some random turbo?

Cheers

you know i've been reading lot of your posts and it seems that we are building almost identical engines *tongue* with the same power band in mind (120 - 130bhp)

yeah i had to drill and tap new holes for the actuator and build a new bracket for it.

standard actuator is 10 psi, you might be able to tighten (less thread) the arm like you say to get the extra couple of psi.

You can run boost pressure higher but you loose efficiency, it runs out of puff (amount of air it can effectively push at said delta pressure) and just ends up
generating more heat than you want.

The T2 actuator varies depending on donar vehicle. 10 psi is more than most. You more likely see 8 psi (R5 GTT, mine was that), but you can pre load the actuator to acheive a few more Psi.

Best way to achieve more boost is either a boost controller or bleed valve.

I have a fancy gated bleed valve with 2 stages of boost with an in cabin selector switch. Bought from turbo dynamics whilst they had a sale on (less than £80 delivered).

T2's are water cooled, and have an oil feed/drain for bearings too. Do t get the mixed up. Sounds like your oil fittings have been removed and whatyou looking at is the water cooled pipes. Might be worth putting a photo up so we can confirm this.

no no no no, you need more boost! you can never ever come on here and say I have enough boost, that's just silly.

There are 2 generation of T2 fitted to the R5, earlier one are not water cooled, later one are.

Mine's definitely water cooled. Heres a pic so we can clear up which is oil and which is water feed.

I took that large pipe to be the oil whilst I presumed the smaller diameter banjo was water?

Yes (mine is not water cooled and I have the large pipe)
