The turbo on my 1.7 CDTi Astravan has let go - along with the oil pump sprocket falling off, which may have shortened it's life somewhat as well as a myriad of other problems...

Never having had to deal with repairs to a modern civilian vehicle before, where is the best place to get a new/recon turbo from ?

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

scrapyard for best price from a low milage accident damaged car preferd,

haddle with the price, tell them you only have soooooo much like £90 say what can they do for you ? thier gona rip you arm off....... trust me...........

ebay. don't the vauxhall diesels use gt15 variants?

Not to your advantage but the very same thing happened to my Astra 1.7dti - the oil pump broke and killed the turbo, they must be a weak spot

i paid £30 for one from a breakers and £42 delivered for one on manifold from ebay. So not expensive either way

i paid £60 posted for a gt1544 from a vaux diesel, and it was in pretty good condition.

one day boost will be mine!

Thanks guys - I will look on feeBay and then phone the breakers.

Any preferred or recommended places to get one reconditioned ?
