Hello

I have a MG Metro cam for my engine build.

Just wondering what bhp it will make before it comes really restrictive?

Going in a 1293, ported metro head, on a gt17

That's good to know, 150 is my target, 160 would beat my expectations.

What boost was that at? High lift rockers?

Cheers

in short brets got it in one, if you were to time it in @ say 113 deg the cam would pull another 1000 rpm up the power band or so but thats about it on a 1293 power wise

if you used a phase 2 billet cam you could stick another 25 to 30 hp on there
anyone else ?

Same as Brett - saw 7200 occasionally, but its well past peak power by then.

not surprising the MG cam runs out of puff around 6000rpm, that is what it has always done, the turbo changes nothing in that respect.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Don't use high lift rockers with a turbo

6k and fell flat on its face in van.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Why not use hi lift rockers? I have seen quite a number of turbo motors using 1.5 rockers. I know people say the 1.3's are better but has anyone done back to back comparisons?

I'm not really fussed about it not revving over 6k as I haven't built the engine to take it constantly.

I didn't want the engines cost to et out of hand, whilst it has been professionally rebuilt I opted not to go for the phase 2.

But you have now got me concerned I'veade the wrong choice! Lol

Is it really a 25hp increase for the same boost?

I wouldn't have though a phase 2 would give you that much over the MG.

in my 998 the N/A metro cam keeps pulling to 7000 rpm and levels until at least 7500 rpm (hit the rev limiter)

one thing i will say, it is a fantastic turbo cam for sub 6000rpm
i may well try what mr Benross has suggested my bottom end was built to take loads of abuse but was not overly impressed by an avonbar Phase 2 last time
i would like something that revs to 7500 and is happy on shit loads of boost :)
