NOW A GT1752 FUSION MANIFOLD MINI VAN
VAN FROM PAGE 3
Hi all,
I have a thread over on TMF, but as I'm aiming to turbo it, I though I'd start one here.
So the plan is:
Engine:
+60
lightened and balanced crank
Cant remember what cam its got, doh
Straight cut drop gears
Head 12G295
There's more but I cant find the spec.
Thinking of using a T2 turbo, any input welcome.
Megajolt
intercooler etc.

Any way I bought the engine complete ready to run, I ran it NA for a couple of months, then the engine went caput, so it needs rebuilding now. I always end up wasting money :(

I don't trust myself to rebuild it, so can anyone recommend an engine builder?

The plan for the car is:
Custom cages historic t45 roll cage
Steel hinged flip front
Force racing titanium rear beam axle using coil overs(Depends on funds)
Whole new floor
Bucket seats with harnesses
Ali fuel tank
Custom carbon fibre dash

So the build:
Removed the engine, on the positive side to having to remove it so soon after putting it in is I remembered how to do it.

The exhaust was a right pain to get off, the pieces were stuck together.

A really tidy engine bay

Got the head off

Love these!

The best use for a dinning room table

For the dash

Sorted
Any way removed the seats and carpets, wont be putting them back in as its being stripped innit *wink*

Sitting really high

Nearly got the wiring removed, just need to move the back of the harness

Removed the fuel tank

That didn't go too well as I managed to set the fuel tank on fire, oops.

So that's it so far.
If you have any feed back please comment.

Here he is in his former glory at castle combe, next to my brother mini. This is one of the last times I got to drive him whilst he was perfect :(

My aim is to get him ready for MWAD at castle combe this year

Well, it happened just after removal, I drained as much fuel as I could before removing it, once removed I though why not pour the dregs on the place where we have fires in the garden, turns out there must have still been some heat in the patch (no fire visible) so as soon I tipped it the petrol set alight and followed the flow into the tank setting it on fire, I thought it was going to go bang, shat me right up, I just pored water into the tank couldn't think what else to do, it was burning a good minuet as the hose doesn't reach there so I had to fill up a bottle. Thank god I didn't panic and splash the petrol on my self.

Hi and welcome, maybe look into the gt17 turbo instead off the t2 turbo.
Unlucky with the petrol tank lucky it was not any worse.

The GT17 on roadgoing 998 is too much. T2 is ok, but a more modern version would be a GT15. Depends on what sort of engine you are trying to build.

And the car wont be used as a daily, it will be for sunny days/track days and I may see if I can enter any race classes.

So today I removed the wiring loom, the bullet connectors that connect the front of the loom to the back were a right pain to separate:

Rear lights removed(nuts were only finger tight ) Boot and bumpers removed, the blooming bolts snapped on the bumper, that made it a right pain to get off:

There's always that one bolt that you cant undo!

Even more empty engine bay:

Fliping rust on the seams:

Do most people remove the inside guttering?

Best piece of sound deadening ever!

Definitely need a bigger garage

Next on the to do list is to remove the windows and doors, then pedal box and steering column.
