i have a van and i have the external pump. external pumps are better in my opinion than spi or mpi tanks (as you know they dont fit in a van) but the return should go to the tank. returning to the back of the pump does work but is not the best idea. |

Bat, why dont you just return it to the swirl pot? "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

You may also want to think about the pick up pipe too, when low on fuel and cornering hard it will be drawing in air instead of fuel. I'm going to use a fuel swirl pot.
sorry would you mind explaining on the tank where the pick up pipe is and where/how you'd fit the fuel swirl pot... im a bit of a newbie when it comes to fuelling... any pics of these van setups would be awesome! Edited by thomen on 20th Sep, 2007. |

I'm not returning to the tank but rather than a simple "T" piece I found a biggish fuel filter that has 2 inlet pipes and one outlet. One inlet comes from the tank, the other is the return from the regulator. I reasoned that having that small "reserve" of fuel in the filter may help and you need a filter anyway, why not!!

many years ago mine returned via a "T" to the back of the pump. it worked perfectly! on top of this my metro turbo pump was mounted at the top of the inner wing!

so is the general concensus to add a return line to the tank around the base of the fuel filler neck.. when i got my tank recod i think they cut the filter out... and would i need to run a swirl pot also?

you must have a filter before the pump! |

ok so it'd go tank->filter->pump->regulator->return to tank (braze fitting around filler neck)

you dont need a swirl pot and yes you need a metro turbo fuel pump. The metty pump can be found in the breakers yard on rover SD1's or use any injection type pump with hose type connections |

If thats the problem couldn't you just mount the fuel pump on the rear subby?

Couldn't you use that as the return and fit an outlet to the bottom... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel
