I've got myself an iPhone and whilst looking for apps came across a few fun ones that estimate 1/4 mile and 0-60 times.

They aren't fantastically accurate because they only use the accelerometer in the iphone to give a basic calculation but still fun.

There's gTac free which is pretty straight forward. The pro version looks great for frequent track goers. It uses gps to follow you around a track and plots speed, g-force and route as you travel around.

Also there's logworks (also free). This has loads of extra features but you need an OT-2 connection to your car's ECU to take advantage of them. Also has a MPG calculator/ log book.


Did a trial run today with them both. The logworks didn't like that my car was vibrating at stand still so i couldn't get it to read.
The gTac worked well. The results seem reasonable based on other figures out there...

I did lose a bit of time at the start by spinning the wheels a bit much.

There is also a BMW power app which is free which also does this.

Good idea that - I'm going in April and have a couple of the apps so might give it a go.

Looks pritty cool, and your 60ft on it was apauling lol , abit of a better start and i recon you would be in the high 16's. In my pug i get 2.4's 60ft and 17.6's for the 1/4 with 65 hp looks like you have a good challange ahead of you for avon

:) yeah i know. It was a struggle to find a suitable place to do it. So had to start from a truckers lay-by which was a bit gravelly and meant a lot of wheel spin.

Yeah, I'm keen to go to Avon now I have a running turbo motor. When is it by the way? Hopefully get the car on the rollers before then to get a bit more all round performance from it.
