Just felt like noting my frustrations in trying to fit a t2.

I've done it all from scratch making adapter plates and so on, but nothing ever lines up as planned.
I have been trying to leave the engine in but this is proving difficult.

I eventually managed to make a oil feed up, seems they're quite hard to come by. So at least that's one thing off the list. But that still leaves the return which is awkward to see let alone plan a route for, and the exhaust which it seems I miss calculated the plate slightly so need to sort that. And I haven't even looked at the water side if it yet.

Its taken months now, everything is one step forward, two steps back. The original t3 conversion was stupidly easy compared to this.

I really hope the end product is worth it!!!!

Cheers for reading.

As predicted by dan187 the down pipe is proving even more difficult.
I would kill for a ramp or pit so I could at least see what I'm doing.
Plus getting in with a welder to tac is impossible!!!!

All you really need are some cheep ramps. and jack them up on it. Or just some axel stands.

When I am doing a down pipe, if I can't tack it I just mark it with a pen then take it off, tack it and put it baclk on. It does mean it goes on and off, on and off, on anmd off. In the end you get there.

Like Steve says, one job at a time.

I realised a long time ago that the best way is to put the turbo&manifold on a spare engine, or pull your engine out. This way, you have easy full access, all around (also helps perfect the oil drain connection).

All you need to do is decide approximately the location (left to right) and up/down of the horizontal section of the downpipe, and work forwards from there. So long as you target a 6mm ish gap between the pot joint and the front-side of the downpipe tube you'll be fine.

I have never had issues doing it this way - and after trying it the other way first, I can totally reccomend it.

No near coventry. (Midlands)
I had avoided dropping the engine until now, I might just have to give in and do it.
