no, 4 rose jointed steadies and genuine std mounts. internal gear linkage too.

works like a dream.

to be fair i could of probably took more off, and i could of tilted the engine forward a bit. but the steadies were all set up for a NA engine in the standard position so i couldnt be arsed to adjust all 4! fits and hasnt caused any trouble. easy enough to get in and out too.

Hi,
I've got an MPi block and it looks different there, in fact it's right next to the cam sensor boss....
Has anyone put a T2 on an MPi block?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Right clearance between comp housing back plate? and block ...

About 3mm? 25 mm to the bulkhead, so unless the comp housing is only 10mm on top if not going to happen.
Shane .... I'm going to put you a pint in the post *wink*

I think with reducing the box section width and a remote TB like Paul S this could work too :)

Whadda tink?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Vegard, I was refering to where the turbo sits, nothing more.

Yhat looks just the ticket, and hopefully the down pipe may be a more simple affair. single TB sound a good route to go.
Well done lad!
Shane.

It may sound daft, but can you flip the manifold over 180degres and mount the blower like it is on th DON?

On a five port head?

Could you not make up two inlet runners (on flanges) to come away from the block, attached to a tubular plenum (running paralel to engine) with a flange on the clutch end to either run single tb or metro carb?
Hope that make sense?
Shane.

Hi,
I could but I need the injector(s) right where the SU would be otherwise it makes it difficult to tune with the wall wetting :(

only a few thoughts chap, dont have mcuh of an idea about the technicle side of inlets, just thought it was a simple to make option, didnt realise there would be tuning issues.

Hi,
Never hurts to kick some ideas about, after all that's where the Australian manifold idea came from :)

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

are you using that cam lobe sensor thingy?

I reckon there could well be a fair bit to bit trimmed off, i.e. bring it back to the shape of the rib that runs along it

Also the flange that bolts to the manifold on the GT appears thicker than the T2

Measure the diameter of the compressor housing at the widest part and ill measure mine tomorrow

gav , bearing in mind ,a lot of the port flow is densest at the top of the p orts ,look at the manifod from the side and try to see if it will be a bit restrictive upside down ,

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=9000

when we did this one in 86 it wss with the metro cast manifold that has a straighter take off from the head so it was ok , hey you could allways do the same and flog the mirage kit ???
the inlet manifold may be a prob then though , although that ws with a t3 ,which is far bigger .
one of the reasons i designed it that way ws the big advantage of no hot air rising past the carb .

Hi,
There's no way my manifold could be restrictive there's a 48mm hole in it now!
What I need to know is if I go remote throttle body where's the best place(s) to put the injectors?
Offers are coming in think and fast, where did I put me passport? *wink*

Remember this:

And this:

Before they removed the photo, I remember this guy had three injectors mounted at intervals along the inlet tube and a remote mounted TB.

I think the idea was that whatever slug of air went into the engine, the fuel was well distributed by the spread of the injectors rather than fancy injection timing.

I suggest that you put your TB down the front of the engine like I have.

Then put three injectors downstream of the TB, spaced 120 degrees radially around the tube but spread out axially by 75-100mm.

If all injectors fire together, say four pulses per cycle, then you will get the best chance of even fuel distribution. IMHO.

Hi,
I'd never have thought of that! I was only planning on using 2 inj, staged at that!
Could I do similar with only 2 inj?
Will having bends between TB and inj cause problems?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

The more injectors the better, until they can't go low enough for a decent idle.

Just keep the bends to a decent radius.

Hi,
I would be right in thinking that the thinking behind this (you still with me??!!!) would be to get everything swirling around in the pipe on its way to the engine?
EDIT:
I take it the IAT sensor need to be mounted after the TB, but kept dry?
Flow on manifold looks fine, maybe even better than the right way up.
Cheers,
Gavin :)
