This has probably been asked before, but I can't find an answer by searching. I need to know what wire goes where on the metro dizzy. It's a 3 pin style connector, but with only 2 pins present in the module. I don't have the metro loom, so I need to know which pin is the positive feed, and which pin is the switched side of the coil. I have a random 3 pin connector which fits, so I need to know which is which wire.

Thanks

Thanks, I already read both those posts, but they only say which pin is which for a 2 pin module. Maybe it's just me being thick.....

Read the last post by Nick in the fist post for what colour wire goes where.

Rod S explains the wiring colours well in this post:

I don't have the metro wiring, so the wire colours mean nothing. I need to know if the positive supply is the middle pin or the outer pin (one of the outer pins is 'missing').

BTW I think you have posted on my thread entitled '1985 mini turbo' on the retro-rides forum.

Yes, I probably have.

The wiring Rod is talking about is the mini loom not the metro, although the colours are the same. So what Rod talks about as being the positive supply will have the same colour as the cable Nick mentions in the first post I linked to.

That said, if you have a pin missing from the module then chances are it's no good anyway and you need a new module. Rod S has linked to a few on ebay recently that cover a multitude of models and are cheaper than the ones advertised as mini/metro specific.

The module you are refering to if memory serves is the later type fitted to the metro sport and the 1.3 GTA

They will retro fit onto any 55DM4 dizzy that has the module mounted on the side I carry ayy the types as spares in my car with the appropriate loom nIf you need another module I have plenty spare of the 2 pin variety.

Own the day

OK, I got a new module off ebay for £10, and eventually worked out how to wire it up. I now get a spark when I crank the engine. Thanks for the help.

remember this is in theory, i have moved the dizzy drive around 180degreese before to stop the vac unit from hitting the oil filter pipe
witch changes the beginning of the firing order on the cap

another stupid question... are the spark plugs numbered 1,2,3,4 from left to right, or right to left?

also if the leads are swapped what will happen? will the car still start?

number 1 is next to the water pump.

obviously if you have the wrong plug getting a spark at the wrong time it isn't going to run well if at all.
