i was told that STd size 1275 piston rings for Metro Turbo pistons are hard to get hold of.

is this true? i need a set.

does anyone know if XRN do them, or does anyone have a part number?

if total seal don't stock them they can make them up if you provide the correct details, i have just had some for my +60 pistons cost around £100. this is the uk stockist www.performanceunlimited.co.uk

Are we sure the oil ring deffo fits in the groove, since Rob Gavin and another member bought those and the oil ring did not fit

I think it is more to do with the depth of the groove

I enquired about std size MG Metro Turbo piston rings with F W Thornton, and the reply from them is below:-

sorry to drag back up but what was the out come of this for people? ive just had green & white (my engine builders) on the phone the std rings i got from mini spares dont fit the oil control ring does not go into the grove deep enough to allow fitting of the piston *crying*

This is not the first time I have heard this!

Minispares are confident that they are the correct fitment, but have never tried to fit them to a piston it would seem.

Send them back and complain, then go and buy some Total Seal gapless rings :)

Well Ill see what they say but it was 2009 when I bought the rings (you know how things go lol) so there's a good chance they'll tell me to do one I do have receipt ect I let yous know how things. Go

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

its the spring part that is too wide in sedction and it stops the rings sitting in there grooves deep enough ,i think if yoyu retain the origional old springs you may be able to use standard rings,

i have certainly done this once in the past recently

total seals paid for should be hear monday minispares said send them back & see what happens but say they have never heard of this problem in all the years they have been selling them :-
